ScienceOnline’09 is the third annual science blogging conference, to be held Jan. 16-18, 2009 at the Sigma Xi Center in Research Triangle Park, NC.
Please join us for this free three-day event to explore science on the Web. Our goal is to bring together scientists, bloggers, educators, students, journalists and others to discuss, demonstrate and debate online strategies and tools for promoting the public understanding of science.

In addition to being an internationally known hub of scientific and biomedical research and education, North Carolina has numerous science blogs written by a wide variety of people (see this listing of Science bloggers). This is a conference to explore new ways in communicating scientific exploration.
Our conference addresses a variety of issues and perspectives on science communication, including science literacy, the popularization of science, science in classrooms and in homes, debunking pseudoscience, using blogs as tools for presenting scientific research, writing about science, and health and medicine.
This BlogTogether conference is organized by Anton Zuiker, Bora Zivkovic and David Kroll, with help from Brian Russell, Paul Jones and you.

The science blogging anthology
In January 2007 — almost in time for the inaugural conference — we edited and published the first-ever science blogging anthology, The Open Laboratory: The Best Writing on Science Blogs 2006, which was an instant hit. We followed up with a 2007 edition in January 2008.
We are planning to have the 2008 edition available for purchase at ScienceOnline’09. The list of blog posts that will be published in the book can be found here and 16 of the 50 authors will be present, in person, at ScienceOnline’09.
